The CIRI, Centre International de Recherche en Infectiologie (https://ciri.enslyon.fr), is a public research institute in Lyon, one of the most dynamic capital cities in France and a gateway to the Alps. We are seeking for an outstanding group leader in Virology focused on the study of BSL4-class viruses. The new team leader is expected to develop their independent line of research, while implementing complementary synergies with other groups at the CIRI.

The “Epigenetics in Stem Cells and Cáncer” lab at the Centre for Genomics and Oncological Research (GENYO) belongs to the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology II of the University of Granada located in Granada, Spain. We use molecular and cellular biology approaches together with epigenomics, proteomics and bioinformatics analyses to study how epigenetic processes regúlate stem cell differentiation and human disease.

We are seeking three motivated postdocs with a good publication record in molecular biology. They will have complementary skills in (1) mouse development (2) epigenomics and (3) bioinformatics. They will contribute to the execution of an ERC-ISCIII-2022 project analysing the epigenetic determinants of transcriptional memory in stem cells and mouse embryos.

We offer a vibrant and friendly environment to carry out outstanding research in epigenomics. We offer three-year contracts and a competitive salary depending on experience (23 000 € – 33 000 € per year). Incorporation to the research group March-December 2023.

Role of septins in epithelial tissues, Institut Fresnel, Marseille, France

We seek a doctoral/postdoctoral fellow in the context of our project SEPTISS which aims at elucidating the role of septins in nondividing, remodeling epithelial tissues. To gain insights into the ole of septins in epithelial tissue architecture and mechanics, the fellow will use the Drosophila embryo as a model system and a combination of experimental techniques, including genetics, live tissue imaging, laser manipulation, polarization-resolved fluorescence microscopy and super-resolution microscopy.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious candidate to join our efforts in elucidating animal septin organization and function. Applicants should have a background in cell or developmental biology, bioengineering, biophysics, or a closely related field. Prior experience with Drosophila genetics and handling, tissue mechanics measurements, or image analysis and data science will be a
plus, but is not required.

Funding will be provided for a 3-year postdoctoral appointment, or cover the duration of the PhD thesis, starting as early as spring 2023.

El cáncer de pulmón es la causa más común de muerte por cáncer en todo el mundo. Aproximadamente el 85% de los pacientes con cáncer de pulmón presentan un tipo histológico conocido como arcinoma de pulmón de células no pequeñas (NSCLC) que comprende varios subtipos, incluidos el adenocarcinoma (LUAD) y el carcinoma de células escamosas de pulmón (LUSC). Los avances en la investigación han permitido el desarrollo de inhibidores farmacológicos que bloquean vías de señalización específicas y pueden usarse como terapias dirigidas para el tratamiento del cáncer pero en el caso del LUSC aún no se han encontrado dianas eficaces. Varias evidencias experimentales sugieren que la subunidad reguladora de PI3K p85 actúa como un promotor tumoral en el carcinoma de células escamosas de pulmón(LUAC) (PMID: 27835880). Las muestras de LUSC exhiben frecuentemente un aumento de los niveles de p85 (PMID: 30961830), y al menos en melanoma, el aumento de p85 se correlaciona con el grado tumoral (PMID:25217619). La idea de este proyecto es capitalizar este conocimiento para el cribado y desarrollo de potenciales compuestos inhibidores estructurales de LUSC utilizando organoides.

Los candidatos deberán contar con publicaciones como primer autor en revistas internacionales, experiencia en bioquímica y biología celular y en modelos murinos (se valorará estar en posesión de la capacitación para el trabajo con animales de experimentación).

The Mechanoadaptation and Caveolae Biology Lab at CNIC, led by Miguel Ángel del Pozo is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to study the principles by which mechanical forces, tissue remodeling, inflammation and aging drive cardiovascular disease. The selected candidate will combine state-of-the-art immunobiology and exosome biology, advanced omics and biophysics, with mouse disease models, in collaboration with top laboratories in the field (David Sancho, CNIC-Madrid, Jacob Bentzon, Aarhus U.; Martin Schwartz, Yale U.), to explore how cells respond to mechanical cues stemming from their environment (blood flow, muscle contraction, stiffening associated with aging…) and how this drives tissue remodeling and immunomodulation. A postdoctoral position is open immediately in the laboratory of Marcelo Kazanietz at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia (https://www.med.upenn.edu/kazanietzlab/) to study basic and translational aspects of cancer signaling, with particular focus in lung cancer.
Requirements: We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with demonstrated ability to lead a research project and work independently. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoc for the discovery and validation of new targets in the immune tumor microenvironment of mouse glioblastoma (GBM) models that will be modulated by innovative nanomedicines to improve the efficacy of radiotherapy and immune checkpoint inhibitors. This postdoc position will involve conducting experiments, analyzing data, writing manuscripts, applying for junior grant calls, actively participating in national and international collaborations as well as helping running the lab. Collaboration and working on multiple projects are highly encouraged.

Specific requirements:
– Required: recent PhD in immunology, oncology or related biomedical disciplines; lab experience in cell culture, molecular biology and multicolour flow cytometry; strong teamwork, communication and presentation skills; fluent spoken and written English.
– Desirable: experience with in vivo mouse models, especially GBM ones; multiplex immunohistochemistry; immunofluorescence /confocal imaging; bioinformatics competencies.

Research will be conducted at the Istituto Oncologico Veneto IOV-IRCCS in Padova, a reference cancer center in Italy closely connected with the Department of Surgery, Oncology and Gastroenterology Sciences of the University of Padova, placed in a highly collaborative research environment hosting both preclinical and clinical research. The laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art instruments and host scientists with complementary expertise in all areas of cancer biology. Dr. Marigo’s laboratory is interested in understanding the role of the tumor microenvironment, with a focus on myeloid cells and macrophages, in the resistance to immunotherapy with the aim of finding new targets that can help boost the efficacy of immunological
treatments in resistant patients or hard-to-treat tumors.
